TLDR: Pack for a beach vacation. We don’t have anything planned that requires a dress code, except for Friday night when we encourage everyone to dress like a pirate. 🏴☠️
For those who’d like more extensive advice, read on:
Clothing: May in Florida is hot, so plan accordingly.
- Fishing shirts
- Shorts
- Bathing suits
- Bathing suit coverups
- UV/sun shirts/rash guards
- If planning to dine out at a nicer restaurant, like the Inn or Pink Elephant: collared shirt and slacks for men, “resort wear” or dress for women. No flip flops. It is not uncommon to see ladies rocking Lily Pulitzer from head to toe in the high season.
- sandals, water shoes, sneakers, flip flops
- pirate accessories
Other stuff: There is a Publix (comparable to Kroger) about 20-25 minutes away on the mainland. There is a liq store next door to Publix. Forgotten items, snacks, and sunscreen can be purchased at Hudson’s and other local stores, but they close early (or aren’t open on Sundays) and are more expensive.
- Sunscreen
- Hats
- Sunglasses
- Beach toys
- Pool toys (if your rental or inn has a pool)
- Kites
- Chairs/blankets/umbrellas/beach towels (may be included in your rental)
- Snacks and/or groceries – some people pick things up off-island on the way in.
- Bike helmets (if you plan to rent bicycles)
- Kid life jackets (if you plan to get on a boat)
